Obtaining a GPS Fix
Connect your camera to power with the antenna attached, and place the camera and antenna in an open area. Wait until your camera beeps a low tone pitch - should take approximately 1-3 minutes.
If you are unsure if you have made a GPS Fix there are several things to check:
The external antenna is not securely attached – make sure it is screwed in tight by hand only.
The external antenna is being blocked from receiving a fix – make sure the view of the sky is not obstructed in any way. Move the system away from tall buildings or thick foliage for a clear view of the sky.
It takes time. Typical wait time is between 30 seconds and 2 minutes, however, obtaining a fix can take up to a maximum of 30 minutes.
Once you have obtained a fix, your camera will long beep at approximately 10 second intervals.
